Editorial

Welcome to the delayed third issue of Endeavour. Members will read that the world of Morse is still a very full one, not least of all because Colin Dexter has just released the final Inspector Morse book (REMO). The next edition will be largely devoted to articles centred around REMO and in addition there might be another publication, the Inspector Morse Journal, packed with some of the longer and more scholarly articles received. This issue though is concerned mainly with WENC.

The membership list is ever increasing and can now boast around three hundred members. The finances are in good shape with enough money to cover this, and the next, newsletter so if you have already donated money to the Society please send nothing else at present. In fact what is needed more than financial aid is practical help in planning meetings and compiling the newsletter. If there are members out there who would like to volunteer their services a warm welcome awaits. Once again I must thank the likes of Philip Attwell and Lindsay Siviter among others who provide many of the articles you will read in this issue.

Our two meetings this year have been a great success and if there is sufficient enthusiasm we would like to expand them to other physical locations, and to other Morse related topics which might interest members. Please do give me your feedback on the enclosed survey form and I will try to organise events around members wishes.

Finally a big thank you to everybody for your patience, and also for all the letters and comments received. I am afraid it is impossible to reply to everybody but please be assured that they are very much appreciated.

I hope you will enjoy this newsletter and will continue to support the Inspector Morse Society.
