The Oxford Literary Festival This took place between 19th. and 21st. March 1999 at the Oxford Union in St. Michael’s Street. Among those literary persons present were Melvyn Bragg, P. D. James, John Simpson, Rick Stein, Ludovic Kennedy, Jancis Robinson, Beryl Bainbridge, Sir Roger Penrose, Richard E. Grant and our very own Colin Dexter with support from Christopher Bird. Colin Dexter’s Inspector Morse is one of today’s best-known fictional detectives, and Christopher Bird has written a comprehensive, encyclopaedic companion to the entire Morse canon (14 books and 32 television films) - The World of Inspector Morse. Christopher talked to Colin Dexter about the world of Morse and Lewis and attempted to shine a revelationery light on all those murky going-ons in the Thames Valley. According to reports Colin was on top form and entertained the packed audience in his usual manner. |
