Editorial I am delighted to present the seventh issue of Endeavour for your enjoyment. This issue completes the 2002 subscription package in that all members will now have had access to several meetings, two newsletters, associated updates and two special supplements along with a choice of gift. The 2004 subscription package begins now and is in the same format giving members newsletters, supplements and the choice of gift. The only changes being that the cost has risen slightly, and that the event vouchers are now available for purchase at a discount as an optional extra. This means that only those who attend meetings regularly need consider this option. The Society goes from strength to strength with no less than thirty-four new members this year. We are glad to have your support and hope that all your memberships will be a long and happy ones. This issue is very much concerned with reports of the Lyme Regis weekend and clearing the backlog of articles. To come in Endeavour 8 will be a full report on the Society excursion to Verona and Vicenza which to my mind was not only the most ambitious, but also most successful trip to date. There will also be news on our proposed meetings for 2005. These will consist of two weekends, the first of which will be in the Birmingham area and include a visit to the Black Country Museum (where WENC was filmed) and also to Jaguar to witness the making of the current S-Type. The autumn meeting by popular demand will see the Society return to its roots with a weekend in, and around, Oxford repeating some of the best elements of past meetings, and also a few new places as well. There are even some (foolish) plans afoot for an excursion to Australia in 2006. Also in the next issue will be further news on the new ‘Lewis’ series which many of you will no doubt have seen mentioned in the press. We would welcome any views as to your feelings on ‘doing a Taggart to Morse’. The big event for the next couple of months will be the publication of the long awaited book by Shelia Hancock (page 20). Finally please do not forget to enter the ‘Endeavour Cup Challenge’ for 2004. Unlike past years where only those attending meetings have been eligible this time every member can take part by simply submitting a short story, or piece of scholarship on Morse (page 18). Thank you as ever for your support, |
