Inspector Morse Author Unveils Plaque At Convention

The man behind the Inspector Morse novels, Colin Dexter, unveiled a plaque in his honour at the Bay Hotel, Lyme Regis. (Ed. With a little help from another famous fictional detective)

In Mr Dexter’s book, The Way Through the Woods, Morse travels to Lyme Regis on holiday and stays in Room 27 at the hotel overlooking the sea front.

Delegates from the Inspector Morse Society marked the spot while in Lyme Regis for a convention.

The group of 30 stayed at The Bay Hotel and had dinner with Mr Dexter. They also took part in a Sherlock Holmes murder mystery game.

Co-ordinator Sir Antony Richards said: “It was great fun. Everybody was very kind to us.”
