| Inspector Morse’s House, Oxford? No, Ealing! Some people may be shocked, as I was, to discover that the house in which Inspector Morse lives in the television adaptations of the books is not in Oxford but is in fact situated in the heart of London. The house is situated in Ealing, which is an expensive area in West London. There is a suggestion that one of the day trips this year may include a visit to the filming locations in London. However, for those of you who are curious the nearest tube station is Ealing Broadway which can be found on the Central and District line underground services and is easily accessible from Central London and Essex. The house is 85, Castlebar Road and I am sure that the owners will be used to visitors (but only to the outside!). (Although this information is available in several source books please do not take it as an open invitation to go and ring the front door bell. It may also interest members to learn that the house is currently threatened with demolition so if you are going please do be quick about it to avoid future disappointment -- Assistant Editor) | | |
